It is hard to believe that Advent is just around the corner, but we are almost there! For Christians, Advent, and not January 1st, marks the New Year. We inhabit and live according to a different time. But what is Advent all about? What are the practices? The symbols? What do they mean? And how can we intentionally enter into this season?
There's a wonderful new series of little books called The Fullness of Times, which explore, in everyday language, the different seasons of the church calendar. In this series, edited by Esau McCaulley, there are some wonderful thinkers and writers who break down what each season means and how (and why) we practice them in certain ways. With Advent near, we wanted you to know that Tish Harrison Warren's most recent offering, Advent: The Season of Hope, is now in the church library in the "Liturgy/Worship" section.
We've put a little book on the table in the library so that you can jot down a note letting us know which book is out by simply writing down the book title and your name. Don't worry, we won't hound you and there are no overdue fees ;) This is simply to help us know which books are out in case other folks are looking for the same one.
We really do have a rich selection of books in our library and want to encourage you to take advantage of these resources. If you're unfamiliar with Tish Harrison Warren's work, her other books Liturgy of the Ordinary, and Prayer in the Night, are beautiful and accessible works that bring spirituality back down to the ground while simultaneously lifting our heads and hearts upward.
Here are some other recent additions to our library.
